A Toast

Happy New Year Wish

My Happy New Year wish for you
Is for your best year yet,
A year where life is peaceful,
And what you want, you get.

A year in which you cherish
The past year’s memories,
And live your life each new day,
Full of bright expectancies.

I wish for you a holiday
With happiness galore;
And when it’s done, I wish you
Happy New Year, and many more.

Go On Take Everything, Take Ever Bit of 2010 With You & Don't Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out

I am SO ready to wrap this one up. OMG the year from utter hell and it is thisclose to saying farewell.  I should be celebrating big time but frankly, I have no desire. Could be out tonite but much prefer the warmth and comfort of home with little girls & fur babies. No one gets in & no one is going anywhere either. I have a crazy full new plate of stuff that starts this week (More on that later), a new job among other things & I'm ready to cool my heels over the weekend and just enjoy the last bit of down time. So many plans for this winterbreak. I had a list of things to do with the kids. We did NOTHING. I decided a break is a break. I'm actually hearing "We're bored!" and I'm thinking GOOD! Once Monday striles they will be in perpetual motion again til Easter so go ahead, be bored. Enjoy it.

I know I am.

So, farewell 2010 and please take with you:

Supposed friends that never deserved the title in the first place.

Family members that make time for you only when their new nonstop partying schedule permits

School districts that make mistakes & take weeks to do the RIGHT thing & correct things.

Every married man that hears that I am single & thinks single equals desperate & desperate equals an easy score.

My own misplaced sense of right & wrong. Just because I would do the right thing in a serious situation does not mean you will. I get that now.

The couple two-three drama queens that have been cut from my life in recent months. I am so LOVING the quiet & calm that replaced them.

DeeDeeDee's. Period.

PS. Can you somehow erase the bad memories completely? Thanks!

Just Cause You're With Someone Twice Your Size Doesn't Mean You Should Drink Like Them

Here's a secret.  I know I am forever threatening to pour a martini but in truth, it rarely happens.

Really rarely.

9.5 times out of ten if I hit the end of the day & can choose between that & coffee I'm grabbing the mug.

And I don't really do shots ever. If one should happen to pass thru my lips it's awfully fruity & nothing in the richtor scale.  Then came last night.

I met up with a childhood friend- I mean, seriously I've known him almost 35 years.  We always threaten to meet but usually our schedules collide. He called last night & it worked. 6 foot 3 or 4ish, has aged very well & totally the kind of guy that catches my eye & amuses me. Banter is always good. We click & he is smart & sarcastic & can keep up. So Vodka it was. Vanilla Vodka shots to be exact.  The first 5 minutes went something like this:

*pour shots..clink clink...slug*

*pour shots..clink clink...slug*

*pour shots..clink clink...slug*

There might have been one more?

I'm thinking (stupidly) that it's just a little bit. Hahahaha.

I stood up soon after to move over closer to him & my knees buckled just enough to let me know that I was definetly um, affected even if I thought I wasn't.  Later I watched him walk down a few stairs with a bit of a sway & I thought "Uh-oh" while of course thinking I was absolutely FINE.

So, this girl here really did know not to try to keep up with someone twice my size... it just didn't seem like I was doing that at the time?

Maybe?

We don't even want to talk about how bad my head felt at 4am when it woke me up.  No we certainly don't.

Obvious lesson learned here. Ugh.

Things I Have Learned From Mr. DJ

Quality conversations with Dave Mr. DJ have been interesting.

I have learned:

Freckles are good, mine are even better.

Private jokes are good, the fact that we have some is even better- says he.

We finish each others thoughts.

He is now using my phrases, to me. His response to things will now be my infamous, "Truse Story."

Coffee or a drink is imminent.

RIP- Oh I Loved Her

The Blizzard That Fizzled, Here Anyway

But we do have *some* snow. The kind you have to shovel. Well, I don't have to, I actually woke to the sound of my landlord shoveling. I just get to look at the pretty stuff, coffee in hand!

Christmas here was wonderful.  Somehow, somehow I pulled it all off.  2 days later B is still carrying Kit, her new American Doll with her.  She wanted her so badly & I am just so happy that it's not a situation where once you get it, it no longer matters. Kit is always in her arms or in her doll stroller nearby. I am so happy to see her so happy.

Em is changing. Not so much of a, ok I'll be nice & say DIVA.  Seriously if you know her you know what I mean. She can be really sweet or she can be tough to crack.  She has been nothing but "hug me! hug me!" lovey dovey lately. It clicked last night, she has been like this lately. I think it has something to do with her friends this year. She's in a different class at school & her two former besties are in a different one together. There was always kind of a rivaly there. This year she has two new besties, Emily & Kristin. Both come from really good families that raise their kids like I raise Emmy. Plus they are brains which pushes her too. I think "the Emily's" as her teacher calls them & Kristin thrown in has made her consistently nicer.

Maya is doing ok. Totally wrapped in Monster High everything. And old Charmed episodes.I still owe her a makeup kit from her fav store. I couldn't find it before Christmas anywhere so she got an IOU.

They are getting along for the most part which is good since we're semi snowed in. A PJ day with lots of peppermint cocoa & movies I think.

Milk and Cookies!

B made a point of putting out milk, cookies & a candy cane for Santa last night. She wanted to use a "baby" glass which was, hilariously enough, a shot glass. Anyway, she sets it all up & scampers up to bed. I tuck everyone in and return to find someone other than Santa drinking the milk!

She drank EVERY bit of the milk!

Then Ralphie our Elf decided to gaurd the situation.

Cruisin' Into Christmas Here!

I can't remember the last time I had Christmas so under control. Everything is wrapped, house is clean, kids are playing. Christmas Eve dinner of Lasagna is in the oven. Red Velvet cupcakes are cooling & we baked more cookies specifically for Santa. I did discover that drinking while wrapping isn't necessarily a great idea. I woke this morning with a headache & NO idea where I hid the presents!

Did good though. American Girl Doll & Monster High Dolls are in the house. Ultimately those things mattered more than anything else. Em finished wrapping her gifts last night & looked under the tree and said, "I don't even care if Santa comes! We've done so much for each other!"  I was stunned & then so happy to hear that.

She gets it. REALLY *gets* it, as usual.

A few nuggets before I go back to the kitchen...

Work is amazing. More on that soon.

Things are going quite well with the DJ.

Merry Christmas Eve!
