The One About The Albatross- Er, Tree!

I've been sick for a few days but decided last night we needed to go & get the tree.  BITTER cold, migraine, coughing, still have body aches- yeah let's go.  I decided to get a tree a bit smaller than last years. That one was huge so I figured we could go smaller and I thought we did go smaller- until I got it home.  Now I'd say it is about the same size as last year. Ooopsie.

The stump was itty bitty making it hard to anchor in the tree stand & then for whatever reason, it just had a mind of its own and did not want to stay upright. Poor Maya was holding it FOR-EV-ER while I fought with it. Thought we had it, I put the kids to bed & when I came back downstairs it was keeling over all over again.

I lost it.

Seriously lost it.

Throwing ornaments (I stopped throwing stuff BEFORE I got divorced, just for the record). That's really bad for me.

I ripped it apart & started all over again. Took me til 1:30AM & then I was awake until 3. Needless to say my mood is not fab, but the tree is :)

My Bedroom Tree

The Good, The Bad- And All That Other Stuff In The Middle

Ever just keep letting things pile up when it comes to blogging? Something happens and you think, "Oh, that's a post!". Except that it's not because you're too busy or whatever? I've had about a week of those.

On Monday the girls and I did some shopping. I found myself in the middle of that excursion thinking, "How did I get HERE?"

I remember years ago thinking these days would never come. Days where I'm surrounded by fully functional little people that are pretty independent and opinionated. I thought I'd be stuck chasing babies forever. I was SURE that would be the case. Now all of a sudden I walk into Justice and my kids scatter. They all have an agenda and they are all uniquely different. One heads for boots, the other for necklaces and the little one wants animal erasers. Then we went to Bookters (Borders), grabbed some stuff and fought (seriously, some huge dude THOUGHT he was going to take a table that seated 6 and got pissed when I zoomed in there in front of him)for a table in the cafe. We sat there for a long time and I watched 3 little people engrossed in their new books while drinking cocoa. I think it'll be a favorite memory even when I'm ancient.

The bad? Maya needs more eye surgery. We can't get the pressure in her eye down for anything. It should be in the teens & she has been between a 27-29 since Sept. Extended time with it that high leads to bad stuff like retina tears, glaucoma, etc. so it HAS to come down. Her fab doc started her on yet another $120 dollar for .5 ml eye drop at bedtime. It burns, causes irritation and redness etc. Not fun. We're looking at a laser procedure soon to lower pressure and if that doesn't work then back into the OR she goes.I am praying the lasering does the trick. This poor kid has been thru so much and never, ever complains about it.

Ever.

We'll end with more good. My interview from the other week is going into the best (brightest, glossiest) skating mag around. Lots of advertising in there & you know what that means? Righttttt. More money to pay me with :)  I also am lining up a bunch of stuff now which is great. I've been busy & busy means happy here.

I think I want a little tree for my bedroom.  Is that weird?

Rule Number One: BOYS DO NOT HIT GIRLS. Period.

So, there's this kid in the neighborhood that I'd never seen before this weekend. My girls usually play with 2 girls on the corner & a little boy around the corner. Combined they are 6 good kids that really get along & they're pretty inseperable on weekends and in the evenings. They bop from our house to the other houses, a total of half a block really and that's fine. I mean seriously, it's a mini wolf pack!  So Austin (sweet boy) discovered Antonio (demon spawn) the other day & tried to ease Antonio into the group. WOULD have worked because these kids are all kinds of the more the merrier- except Antonio is a HUGE bully. I didn't know at all until on Saturday night when the girls all started telling me. Frankly, I was pissed not to know AS THEY WERE PLAYING. Apparently Antonio's mouth is worse than mine after I break a toe & he threatens to shoot people.

No really. He threatened to SHOOT B WITH HIS DADS GUN several times.

WTFH?

Oh yeah and then there's that other thing, he HITS GIRLS.

He punched B in the face on Saturday. I told them the next time he was around the second something happened to come & get me. Cause you KNOW with a kid like this it'll happen again.

So I'm hanging outdoor lights & here comes em. She gets two doors from our house, makes eye contact with me & just errupts into hysterics so loud that people across the street hanging their lights came running over. Hold up. Let me just say, Em is TOUGH. It takes a lot to crack her so for her to lose it like that was doublely (not a word.) bad. Antonio was threatening her & cursed her out. She told him she was going to tell me and the SEVEN YEAR OLD response?

"Fuck your mamma she ain't shit to me!"

Seriously?

Seriously.

Took her by the hand & off we went to chat with Antonio's mom. I hit the corner & the rest of the kiddie wolf pack joined me, chimed in on how he had punched B again & knocked Em on her head so needless to say I was furious. His mom came outside before I hit their house and she says...
"I know he said a bad word & I already talked to him it's ok!"

Yeah. No it's not.

I told her that I wanted no drama (how on earth I stayed calm is beyond me)but that her SON is hitting my DAUGHTERS and while I know kids banter & push each others buttons I will NOT have my kids being hurt by a BOY that should have been taught long ago not to hit girls!

Of course I got the stammering...

"Oh he has never done this before...he has sisters that he is good with...he didn't mean anything...they go back & forth it's what kids do..."

I walked away figuring he is doing what he sees in that house. I also figured she has NO control over him & seemed slightly afraid of her own kid.

Better not happen again or I'll be looking for dad instead.

B told me last night her little friend on the corner who was standing behind me the whole time said, "Wow. Your mom is like a super hero!"

;)

B helping with lights before I had to find my cape.
